Bravo Delta Models (128) - Bristol Britannia BOAC - Scale Model Aircraft, complete with display stand. Scale 1:100, length 17"/432 mm, span 15"/381mm, height 3"/75mm.
The first Britannia flew on July 31, 1956 of which BOAC took 18 and, after deliveries began in September 1957, put them into service between London and New York. The later series also saw transatlantic service with Cubana de Aviación starting in 1958. The first jet powered, albeit in turbo prop form, airliner to enter regular non-stop transatlantic service in both directions. Most of the aircraft were built by Bristol at Filton Aerodrome but 15 aircraft were built at Belfast by Short Brothers and Harland.
